Jakov will sing to all of Croatia

As they promised back in May, the group Connect rearranged and recorded a rap song which was written by Jakov Rubido, a thirteen year old boy from Karlovac who lost the battle against leukemia!

Jakov, who last year lost his battle with leukemia, had composed songs before having bone marrow transplantation. Actually, he sang all the time, and in two songs which were recorded with a video camera he thanked everyone who had supported him. His mother, Ivančica Rubido, told us that the recording of the video yesterday at Švarča Primary School was beautiful. Jakov sung in all of the hallways, with his friends beside him.

“The song itself is special. It is actually unbelievable how the boys from Connect were able to put it together, the music and their words. It is fascinating and very powerful,” says Ivančica.

After Jakov’s death, the association ‘Jak kao Jakov’ (Strong like Jakov) was established for children and parents who are battling leukemia.

“The point of all of this is to inform the public and make them more sensitive to the difficulties these children and their parents have to go through,” says Ivančica Rubido.

The premiere of the video spot will be on Wednesday on HRT1 at 20:50 during the show Misija: Zajedno.

“Jakov will sing to all of Croatia on behalf of all those who have made the same journey,” concluded his mother.
