Member of the Presidency of the Republic of Croatia, Bianca Matković, gives her full support to the Foundation

President of the HDZ Women’s Association “Katarina Zrinski” and member of the Presidency, Bianca Matković, met earlier today with Marija rukavina, the mother of the late journalist, Ana Rukavina, and the director of the Ana Rukavina Foundation.

The President of the HDZ Women’s Association, Bianca Matković, gave her full support to the work of the Ana Rukavina Foundation. She commented that the work of the Foundation had opened a new perspective toward the treatment of those suffering from leukemia, lymphoma and other malignant hematological diseases and also that the Foundation was a new way of looking at the possibility to organize the expansion of the bone marrow registry.

The Director of the Foundation, Marija Rukavina, brought Mrs. Bianca Matković up to date on the Foundation’s current activities and informed her about the humanitarian concerts that are scheduled to take place in December.

In showing her support of the Foundation to organize these humanitarian actions, the President of the Association, Bianca Matković, notified Mrs. Marija Rukavina about the initiatives of the HDZ Women’s Association “Katarina Zrinski”. That is, the Association, in cooperation with the local government bodies, will name one of Šibenik’s city parks after the late Ana Rukavina. Mrs. Rukavina expressed her personal gratitude for this gesture. The start of the work will be symbolically marked on November 26, 2008, on the anniversary of her death, and the grand opening of the park is scheduled for March 28, 2009, in honor of Ana’s birthday.

It was also basically agreed at the meeting that they would organize public talks throughout the Republic of Croatia at which people would hear about the need to expand the Registry of voluntary bone marrow donors and the public cord blood bank. This is all to benefit those suffering from leukemia, lymphoma and other malignant hematological diseases.
