Dear friends, last night we had the opportunity to enjoy the Christmas concert “I want life” broadcast on Nova TV, the DNEVNIK.hr portal, and the DNEVNIK.hr Facebook page. The Christmas concert is the culmination of the humanitarian action “I want life”, and the biggest stars of the Croatian music scene, Severina and Petar Grašo, performed. During the broadcast of the concert, the citizens collected 1,022,510.00 kunas for the further work of the Foundation. Since the beginning of the humanitarian action “I want life”, citizens have called the number 060 9000 as many as 204,502 times, donating 5 kunas (plus VAT) for each call. The humanitarian hotline will be active until December 31st.
Last night’s concert, organized by the Ana Rukavina Foundation and Nova TV, is a gift to all Croatian citizens and thanks to all those who supported the work of the Foundation, remembering the premature departure of Ana Rukavina, a young journalist after whom the Foundation is named.
“I would like to thank everyone who, despite the difficult circumstances, this year, in front of the small screens from the warmth of their home, supported and helped the work of the Foundation with calls to the humanitarian number. Today, when caring for human life is a priority on a global level, we have once again shown a great heart and togetherness, “said Marija Rukavina, director of the Ana Rukavina Foundation.
The aim of the action is to raise funds for the further expansion of the Croatian Bone Marrow Donor Registry and the professional training of young doctors in the field of hematology and other related specializations. The Foundation provided professional training to young doctors, and so far seven doctors from the Republic of Croatia have had the opportunity to train at the world’s best clinics in the field of hematology and pediatrics so that they can help patients in their homeland upon their return.
“Thank you all for the togetherness: the Foundation, the viewers, and the entire Nova TV team. This is the only way we can change things, even in a difficult and unusual year”, said Dražen Mavrić, President of the Management Board of Nova TV Group.
With the funds collected via the humanitarian telephone, you paid HRK 132,000 via the KEKS Pay application for the further work of the Ana Rukavina Foundation!
Let us remind you that from the beginning of 2020 until today, the Ana Rukavina Foundation has donated funds for equipment and projects to the Croatian healthcare system in the amount of HRK 592,270.94. Also, thanks to great efforts and with the help of numerous donors and friends of the Foundation, the Croatian Bone Marrow Donor Registry has increased from 150 to more than 65,000 donors, which gave 126 patients hope to live. According to a 2014 World Registry report, Croatia is the 11th country in the world in terms of the number of potential donors per 10,000 inhabitants. The Foundation’s continuous efforts have enabled the establishment of the public Ana Rukavina Umbilical Cord Blood Bank within the University Hospital Centre Zagreb, which positions Croatia at the high 8th place in the world in the number of umbilical cord blood donated per 10,000 inhabitants.
