The Croatian Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Ana Rukavina Foundation organized a picnic at Bundek on Saturday June 14th to thank all the voluntary donors and those people who have financially contributed to support the work of the Foundation.<\/p>\n
In honor of the European Week of Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma, a picnic, barbeque and sports games had been arranged. However, due to poor weather conditions, the sports games had to be cancelled. This was the second picnic at Bundek sponsored by the City of Zagreb in which we intended to raise public sensitivity regarding those people suffering from leukemia. We had planned to do this through socializing, sports games and fun. Unfortunately, because of the rain, only a few brave citizens joined us.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can’t explain to you how much it means to me to meet with the wonderful people who came to the picnic and supported the Foundation. Today, our Registry lists 32,000 donor names, and every kuna we get goes towards tissue typing the collected blood samples,\u201d said our director, Mrs. Marija Rukavina.<\/p>\n
By the end of the year we expect to tissue type 10,000 samples. In order to do this, we ask the citizens to participate in our action \u201cKuna for a Drop of Life\u201d by calling 060 9005, and thus donating money towards tissue typing.
