In \u0160ibenik-Knin County, the HDZ Women\u2019s Association “Katarina Zrinski” has initiated the design of a park in honor of the late journalist Ana Rukavina.
\n“The park is to be arranged at the north entrance of St. Mihovil Fort and the works will be financed by sponsors. In this way, the Women\u2019s Association \u201cKatarina Zrinski\u201d would like to voice their concerns about the growing rate of violence among teenagers and would like to offer them a place for socializing and other activities of their choice,\u201d announced the president of the Women\u2019s Association \u201cKatarina Zrinski\u201d and the mayor of \u0160ibenik, Mrs. Nedeljka Klari\u0107.<\/p>\n
On November 26th, on the occasion of the anniversary of Ana Rukavina\u2019s death, in the presence of Ana\u2019s mother and the director of the Foundation, Mrs. Marija Rukavina, the representatives of the Association presented a preliminary idea for the design of the future park. The project should be completed and the park ceremonially opened on the anniversary of Ana\u2019s birthday, March 28, 2009.<\/p>\n
With the help of a group of HDZ councilmen, the Association will also submit a request to the City Council to officially name the location \u201cAna Rukavina Park\u201d. Saint Mihovil Fort is the oldest part of the city of \u0160ibenik (since 1835 because of St. Ana Chapel at the cemetery and St. Ana Fort). It is located on top of a hill, 70 meters above the sea in the center of \u0160ibenik. From this position it dominates the entire bay of \u0160ibenik and the city\u2019s close surroundings. The first time the fort, as well as the city of \u0160ibenik, was mentioned in history was in a certificate issued by the Croatian king, Petar Kre\u0161imir IV, on December 25, 1066, to a Zadar nun, \u010cika, entitling her to monastery land and assets.
