A charity concert by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra for the Ana Rukavina Foundation! Carl Orff: CARMINA BURANA<\/p>\n
The Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ana Rukavina Foundation have had exceptionally successful cooperation over a number of years. The series of notable charity concerts they have organized together continues this year with the performance of one of the biggest \u201chits\u201d of classical music \u2013 the famous cantata Carmina Burana!<\/p>\n
The anthological work is a brilliant sequence of 25 poems, all written by medieval vagrant clerics and lay students, which were discovered in the early 19th century in a Benediktbeuren monastery in Upper Bavaria and set to music by the German composer Carl Orff.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are free to destroy everything I have written until now,\u201d wrote Orff wrote to his publisher Schott not long after the world premiere of his work at the Frankfurt Opera House. \u201cMy opus really and truly begins with the cantata Carmina Burana.\u201d<\/p>\n
Like Beethoven’s Ode to Joy or the spectacular overture to Strauss\u2019s Zarathustra, Orff\u2019s cantata Carmina Burana has long been part of the collective memory of mankind.<\/p>\n
A first-class talent, the young and successful conductor Perry So from Hong Kong will conduct the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ivan Goran Kova\u010di\u0107 Academic Choir in the performance of this masterpiece. They will be joined on stage by the prominent Croatian soprano Ivana Lazar, the ever more present Croatian baritone Ljubomir Pu\u0161kari\u0107, and the young Croatian tenor Marko Cvetko.<\/p>\n
