The \u0160enkovec Municipality has organized an action to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors on May 16, 2012. The action will take place from 2 PM to 5 PM at the premises of the \u0160enkovec Municipality (the old school).<\/p>\n
According to the \u0160enkovec Municipality officials, the young boy Jan Balent from \u010cukovec, who needs urgent help, was an additional incentive to organize this action to join the Registry.
\n\u201cEverything concerning the organization of the Ana Rukavina Foundation fund-raiser in \u0160enkovec is now happening very fast. Me\u0111imurje is full of good people, always ready to extend a helping hand without reservation. That is what gave us the original idea to organize what today seems to be a wonderful event in the making. An event, it needs to be emphasized, of quite some significance for the people of Me\u0111imurje. <\/p>\n
Namely, when we first started thinking about organizing this event, we were not even aware that there might be children in our own neighborhood who could benefit directly from it. We were guided by the thought that we were doing something good, for someone else, somewhere else. We all kind of thought that those things happened to other people, perhaps in Zagreb, Dalmatia, Slavonia… But sadly, as the parents of the sick children know only too well, it is not so. <\/p>\n
When the news spread about the organization of the action and the concert, people started to call to offer their support. There were also others who alerted us to the fact that there may be children in our midst who needed our help. Among the latter was Mr. Emil Vibovi\u0107 from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Patients\u2019 Association in \u010cakovec who informed us that one boy, less than 4 years old, had been in University Hospital Centre Rebro in Zagreb for 2 months already, together with his mother who was with him 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n
The boy is Jan Balent from \u010cukovec, who desperately needs help and for whom we decided to raise our voices together and invite all good people to help, because a potential cure for him could be in each of us. This young innocent being deserves our maximum effort. Therefore, we are calling on the people of \u010cukovec and Prelog and Donje Me\u0111imurje, as well as the rest of Me\u0111imurje, to come and take part in the action. Help Jan, because he needs all of us – friends and strangers. <\/p>\n
Who of us will need help tomorrow? Do any of us know the answer?
