The Ana Rukavina Foundation and the Biograd Sailing Club have organized an action to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors. It will start at 4 PM on Friday, February 8th at the Kornati Marina in Biograd na Moru.
With the help of the Biograd Sailing Club, the action will take place on the occasion of the 13th Carnival Regatta.
We hereby call on all the citizens of Biograd to join the Registry, and contribute to saving lives. In fact, each new donor listed in the Registry increases the chances of finding a matching donor and saving someone’s life. Bone marrow transplantation can cure patients with acute and chronic forms of leukemia as well as patients with severely damaged bone marrow.
All healthy people between the ages of 18 and 40 can join the Registry by filling in an application form and a medical questionnaire and giving a blood sample for HLA tissue typing (the procedure for determining the tissue compatibility antigen).
