214 new potential donors in Labin

Dear friends, at the action held yesterday, April 9th, in the restaurant of the Mate Blažina Secondary School Center in Labin, the Croatian Registry was expanded by 214 new potential donors of hematopoietic stem cells.

This action was held at the initiative of Martina Tireli, whose sister, Karla Tireli, is undergoing treatment for leukemia and now needs a bone marrow transplant.

Those who also participated in the organization of the action in Labin included the Tireli’s family friends, the Labin Zdravi Grad, the municipal branch of the Red Cross Labin, the League Against Cancer Labin, as well as Mrs. Olgica Škopac, who had already organized an action for the Ana Rukavina Foundation in October 2007 at which nearly 300 of Labin’s citizens joined the Registry.

We are sincerely grateful to all the volunteers who took part in yesterday’s action. We were extremely impressed with the organization and all the wonderful people who helped make this action happen, especially the many young people who joined the Registry with the hope of one day helping someone by giving them a chance at life.
