70 potential donors in Čakovec!

Yesterday, on April 15, the Ana Rukavina Foundation held another action to join the Croatian Bone Marrow Donor Registry, at the initiative and in cooperation with the Međimurje University of Applied Sciences in Čakovec, which was joined by 70 potential donors.
The campaign was initiated by Ms. Magdalena Zeko, Vice Dean for Education, to raise awareness among students about the importance of registering in the Croatian Registry and helping those who are looking for their chance for recovery.
Before the campaign itself, we also held a lecture for the university’s students and staff to introduce them to the Ana Rukavina Foundation’s work and what it means to be a potential hematopoietic stem cell donor.
The students delighted us with their great response, and we must also commend their initiative and proactivity, which they showed by preparing an educational promo video in which they invited colleagues and all interested parties to join the Croatian Registry.
Dr.sc. Sandra Oslaković, a specialist in transfusion medicine and deputy director of the Čakovec County Hospital, also joined the campaign together with Dr. Mirna Dadić, a specialist in transfusion medicine at the Čakovec County Hospital, to help inform potential donors.
In 2014, we also held an extremely successful campaign at the Međimurje University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with Ms. Mirjana Trstenjak. With yesterday’s campaign, more than 200 potential donors were registered in the Croatian Registry thanks to their call for action.
We are especially pleased that the recipients of hematopoietic stem cells also joined the campaign, who, thanks to the noble donors, were given a new chance at life.
We thank the dear organizers for inviting us, the doctors who helped, and the young people who showed a big heart in the campaign that can save someone’s life.
