With a concert for life, we celebrate Ana’s birthday, we remember maestro Vjekoslav Šutej, and in their honor – we celebrate life!
In memory of Ana Rukavina and maestro Vjekoslav Šutej, we invite you to the twelfth Concert for Life, which will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, starting at 7:30 p.m. under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Zoran Milanović and under the auspices of the Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Mr. Tomislav Tomašević.
At the Concert for Life in the Off cycle, the Zagreb Philharmonic will perform with the program “Oriental Nights” under the direction of conductor Tonči Bilić.
The program will include the following works:
Camille Saint-Saens: “Bacchanalle” Op. 47, from the opera Samson and Delilah
Petar Ilyich Tchaikovsky: “Arab Dance” from the Nutcracker ballet
Giuseppe Verdi: “Ballet” scene from the opera Aida
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov: “The Legend of Prince Kalender” – 2nd movement from the symphony suite Scheherazade, op.35
“Prince and Princess” – 3rd movement from the symphonic suite Scheherazade, op.35
Richard Strauss: “Salome’s Dance” (Dance of the Seven Veils), from the opera Salome
Aram Khachaturian: Three dances from the suite “Gayane” – Saber dance, Aysha’s dance, Lezghinka
Alan Menken: “Aladdin”, selection from the suite – Arabian Nights, One Jump Ahead Reprise, Friend Like Me, A Whole New World, Prince Ali
Dancers: Jana Malčić, Roko Šašić, Endi Schrotter, Fran Žuglić
