For the eleventh year in a row, organized by the SDP Women’s Forum, on April 15, the humanitarian action “Ana Rukavina’s Favorite Flower” was held at about a hundred locations in more than 90 cities and municipalities across Croatia.
The amount collected at this year’s humanitarian campaign was paid by the SDP Women’s Forum to the giro account of the Ana Rukavina Foundation, for the purpose of developing the Register of Voluntary Donors of Hematopoietic Stem Cells.
Today, SDP president Peđa Grbin handed a check with collected funds in the amount of 18,714.00 euros, i.e. 140,355.00 kuna, to the manager of the Foundation, Mrs. Marija Rukavina.
The collected funds are a great incentive for the further work of the Ana Rukavina Foundation in order to organize campaigns for registration in the Croatian Register of Voluntary Donors of Hematopoietic Stem Cells and enable further professional development of young doctors, nurses and technicians in the field of hematology.
“I want life!” wrote Ana Rukavina in her letter 15 years ago and started an avalanche of kindness. She did not leave anyone indifferent with her sincere plea for help. Although she failed to help herself, she helped and is helping many others,” said Peđa Grbin, president of the SDP.
Since the beginning of its work in 2006, the Ana Rukavina Foundation has organized numerous registration campaigns in the Register of voluntary donors of hematopoietic stem cells. There are currently 62,421 potential donors in the Croatian register. From the beginning of the Foundation’s work until today, 164 people have received a chance for healing from bone marrow donors from the Croatian registry.
“We thank all the dear and good people, the women who started all this, but also the SDP who financed everything. Over 11 years, HRK 828,000 or EUR 110,000 was paid to the Foundation, and this year we achieved a record – EUR 18,714. That is a large amount.
Thank you to all those women who collected funds from the sale of tulips throughout Croatia and wanted to help the work of the Foundation. Thank you to all the wonderful people who bought my Ana’s favorite flower,” said Marija Rukavina, manager of the Ana Rukavina Foundation.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Social Democratic Women’s Forum of the SDP for the long-term support and organization of this commendable humanitarian action so that together we can help sick people who are waiting for their chance to get well.
