THE ANA RUKAVINA FOUNDATION IN RIJEKA ORGANIZES AN ACTION TO HELP THE GIRL RITA

We invite all citizens of Rijeka between the ages of 18 and 40 to respond to the Campaign.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in the area of the National Reading Room, Korzo 24, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the Ana Rukavina Foundation is organizing an event to register in the Croatian Register of Voluntary Blood Donors.

This Action is being held in Rijeka to help a 12-year-old girl, Rita, who is being treated at KBC Rijeka due to relapse of leukemia. Unfortunately, parents and immediate family are not matching donors.

The foundation has already invited citizens throughout Croatia to respond and go to transfusion centers and register in the Croatian registry, and with this action we want to find a matching donor and medicine as soon as possible.

Healthy persons between the ages of 18 and 40 can register in the register.

The registration process within the Rijeka Campaign involves coming to the National Reading Room, where the potential donor of stem cells will fill out an Application Form with important information. From the Foundation, they will receive a Certificate of Accession and a test tube with printed personal information. With that test tube, he comes to the nurse/technician who will draw his blood and collect the application form.

The process itself for a potential donor is anonymous, painless, and takes no more than 10 minutes.

To give a blood sample, it is not necessary to have an empty stomach and it is advisable to drink enough plain water for easier blood extraction and because of the heat.

We hereby invite all citizens of Rijeka between the ages of 18 and 40 to respond to the campaign and become potential donors of hematopoietic stem cells. The girl Rita needs medicine as soon as possible, and the matching donor may be a citizen of the city of Rijeka. .
