After 17 years in Makarska, a city with a big soul and heart 6.4. In 2024, the action “The medicine is within us” was organized by the Ana Rukavina Foundation and the Red Cross Makarska. A lot of symbolism in the whole campaign from the date of the event (the first Saturday after Easter), emotions (founding of the Foundation and Ana’s birthday), empathy (the possibility to save someone’s life) and the record number of collected samples 112 (the European emergency number from all parts of the EU ) does not leave much room for feelings other than respect, pride, fulfillment, joy, humanity and satisfaction.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the organization and promotion, and special thanks to Mr. Miroslav Dudaš from the Red Cross Makarska, numerous volunteers and athletes.
Endless thanks to everyone who registered in the Registry and gave a part of themselves in order to provide hope for saving the life of a sick person and enable this noble action to continue saving lives!
Thanks to the selfless donors of hematopoietic stem cells, 172 sick people have been given a chance for a new life so far!
