We would like to offer our sincerest condolences to the Novak family as we learn the deeply shocking news about Silvana!
Why did Silvana Novak pass away so early in life? Who didn’t react fast enough?
We remind you about Irena Matić, a 22 year old girl from Županja who was also not given permission to get treatment abroad. Irena has been raising money for a transplantation in Italy that is supposed to be performed on December 9, 2009. Will she raise enough money? Will her medical condition allow her to travel to Italy?
We sincerely hope and wish that Irena will succeed in her fight for life with the help of the Croatian citizens who are always so big hearted and ready to help!
Because of cases like these, the Foundation strives to expand the National Registry so that matching donors can be found here in Croatia, as soon as possible, for those suffering from leukemia. Unfortunately, HLA tissue typing of blood samples is an expensive process. Therefore, we need substantial financial resources in order for the samples from all the potential donors to be tissue typed and available to search for genetic compatibility with patients.
In these tough times we are persistently working on that – because of the promise we made to Ana!
