A total of 235 new donors joined the Croatian Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors at the action held in Split on April 28th.
At the action which we successfully organized on Split’s waterfront on Saturday, 235 citizens of Split signed the consent form to join the Croatian Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors. After HLA tissue typing of their blood samples, the donors will be a part of the Croatian, as well as the World Registry.
We are grateful to all the people of Split, especially the organizers of this action, the nurse Anita Vranješ, Dr. Esma Čečuk, as well as all the doctors and nurses at the Department of Hematology at University Hospital Center Split (KBC Split).
This was the second action to join the Registry that the nurse Anita Vranješ has organized; the first one was in March 2007 in Makarska, not long after her six year old son Dino died of leukemia. On that occasion, more than 500 citizens of Makarska joined the Registry.
