148 people joined the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors, thereby contributing to the saving of human lives

Many charitable people gathered today at Marina Kornati in Biograd na Moru to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cells donors, thereby contributing to the saving of human lives.

The 148 people who came out to support the action to join the Registry, which was organized by the Ana Rukavina Foundation, gave blood for tissue typing, thereby increasing the chances of saving someone’s life.

The action was organized as part of the traditional international sports event called the “Carnival Regatta” which has been organized by the Yacht Club Biograd for thirteen years in a row. The regatta took place in Biograd na Moru from February 8-10, 2013. In addition to combining a competitive spirit and tradition, this year the regatta had a new, humanitarian aspect.

By joining the Registry, every potential donor may save someone’s life because bone marrow transplantation can cure patients suffering from acute and chronic forms of leukemia, as well as patients with severely damaged bone marrow.

We are sincerely grateful to the dear organizers at the Yacht Club Biograd, especially all the young people who by joining the Registry have provided the hope of saving those who are suffering from leukemia, lymphoma and all the other people suffering from severely damaged bone marrow.
