The results of the Public tender and a valuable donation to University hospital Zagreb

Dear friends, Ana Rukavina Foundation presented the results of the tender with which it will enable a six months of professional training in Universal Healthcare Institutions medical center Utrecht (Netherlands) and Newcastle University (United Kingdom) to a selected physician, and a donation of a valuable device for University hospital Zagreb for the needs of patients with hematological diseases.
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees selected Dr. Nevenka Cigrovski at the proposal of the Expert Council that was responsible for the implementation of the competition and for the proposal of the candidate for the allocation of funds.

The aim of this professional training is education in the area of ​​the transplantation of stem cells in children with metabolic diseases and immunodeficiency.
More than 700 thousand kunas that will be invested in the professional training of Dr. Nevenka Cigrovski and the purchase of the Therakos Cellex System, were enabled by citizens’ donations.

“We are grateful and happy that, with the help of numerous donations and solidarity of our fellow citizens, we enable further improvement of physicians so they can acquire knowledge abroad and provide a better healthcare for patients in Croatia. Numerous citizens with their donations also provided the purchase of a valuable device for the needs of patients in University hospital Zagreb hematology department and we are grateful for the big public support that gives us strength and motivation to continue to help the needy, ” said the managing director of the Foundation, Mrs. Rukavina.
“Number of transplantation of related and unrelated donors of stem cells and solid organs
in University hospital Zagreb rises every year. Currently, there is 300 to 350 procedures per year and the purchase of this valuable device will enable the treatment of a larger number of patients by this method, as well as increasing the safety of the procedure itself. “said doc.dr.sc.
