The traditional “Concert for Life”, organized by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra for the Ana Rukavina Foundation, provided the audience at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall an unforgettable experience on Tuesday night.
The famous rock songs, such as “All You Need Is Love” and “Show Must Go On”, performed in a classic rendition by the Philharmonic Orchestra under the conducting baton of maestro Alan Bjelinski, along with legendary guest vocalist Željko Bebek, received great applause from the friends of the Ana Rukavina Foundation.
The “Rock Classic” program of the “Concert for Life” was also enjoyed by the President of the Republic of Croatia, Prof. Ivo Josipović Ph.D., under whose auspices the concert was held, the mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, and other prominent Croatian public figures.
By purchasing tickets to the “Concert for Life” citizens donated money to the Foundation, and the proceeds are intended to be used for the development of medicine in the area of hematology and for scholarships for young Croatian hematologists. Specifically, as of this year, the Ana Rukavina Foundation has announced a new course of action: providing scholarships to young Croatian experts to support their study abroad. Upon their return to Croatia, they will be expected to convey their newly acquired knowledge and the methods used in the treatment of leukemia and lymphoma. An expert council that will consist of five members, all prominent experts in the field of hematology, will select the scholarship recipients through a public tender. The scholarships are intended for professional and scientific training abroad, and will last for three, six or twelve months depending on the proposed program and mission.
We would like to sincerely thank the organizers of the concert, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, and all the dear guests who purchased tickets and thus helped the work of the Foundation and our new projects and goals.
