Meeting with representatives of the Turkish Health and Education Foundation for Children with Leukemia LÖSEV

On Wednesday, October 9, Dr. Jülide Arifoğlu Akay, national coordinator for social services of the Turkish Health and Education Foundation for Children with Leukemia LÖSEV, visited us at the Ana Rukavina Foundation’s premises.
Dr. Arifoğlu Akay arrived in Zagreb to receive a high award – the Great Charter of Croatian-Turkish Friendship – on behalf of the LÖSEV Foundation at today’s grand ceremony on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the Croatian-Turkish Friendship Association. The LÖSEV Foundation (founded in 1998) receives this recognition because for many years it brought sick children in the mature stage of healing to Croatia, and included sick children from Croatia in its programs.
Dr. Arifoğlu Akay visited us to learn about the mission, work, and experiences of the Ana Rukavina Foundation and to share the experiences of the LÖSEV Foundation.
This valuable foundation opened the first and only Hospital for Children with Leukemia in Turkey in 2000, a School for Children with Leukemia in 2008, and a Village for Children with Leukemia and their Parents in 2010. These establishments are located in Ankara, and similar establishments are planned for Istanbul and Izmir.
We thank Dr. Arifoğlu Akay for the visit, and for everything she does for children suffering from hematological diseases, and we look forward to possible future cooperation.
