Dear friends, today we mark the National Day of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation.
According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, Croatia is one of the leading countries in the world in the field of organ donation and transplantation thanks to the highly developed awareness of donation and solidarity of our citizens, the quality of transplant teams and effective organizational model.
In addition to being at the very top of the world in solid organ transplantation, according to the latest report of the Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide, Croatia is 11th among the members of the BMDW in terms of the number of potential donors per 10,000 inhabitants and 8th among the member countries registry by the number of stored umbilical cord blood stem cell doses per 10,000 inhabitants.
Of course, this success was achieved thanks to you who, by enrolling in the Croatian Registry and donating umbilical cord blood stem cells, decided to help the sick and increase their chances of recovery. Thank you from the heart and 120 stem cell and bone marrow donors who gave a part of themselves to save someone’s life!
