The meeting of two great humanitarians, maestro Jose Carreras and Prof. Mirando Mrsić, medical director of the Ana Rukavina Foundation

On the occasion of the concert of maestro Jose Carreras, which will take place tonight, September 23, 2024, in the “Vatroslav Lisinski” Concert Hall in Zagreb, Prof. Mirando Mrsić, medical director of the Ana Rukavina Foundation, met with the legendary tenor at the Sheraton Zagreb Hotel. The purpose of the meeting was to thank him for everything he did for the Ana Rukavina Foundation at the very beginning of our work when, on November 30, 2007, he held the “A Night to Remember” concert at the Dražen Petrović Basketball Center together with Michael Bolton and Toni Cetinski and that donated part of the income to the Foundation.
Their support at that time meant the world to us considering that we were at the very beginning of the work that we dedicated to patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other hematological diseases, as well as professional development of young doctors, residents or specialists in hematology and other related specializations, and financing of projects relevant to the treatment of leukemia and other hematological diseases.
Maestro Carreras himself suffered from leukemia in 1987, after which he founded “The Josep Carreras Leukemia Foundation”, which engages in similar humanitarian work and, apart from Spain, operates in three other countries around the world.
On that occasion, Prof. Mrsić told NOVA TV: “Certainly, his role in promoting knowledge, collecting funds, raising awareness among citizens about what is needed to join the register of voluntary donors is very important, not only in Spain, where his foundation is the strongest, but also in the whole the world.”
Once again, we thank Maestro Carreras from the bottom of our hearts for his support and wish everyone who is going to Lisinski tonight a wonderful concert with one of the most famous tenors in the world.
