1,500 new blood samples from potential donors undergo HLA tissue typing

Tissue typing has been carried out on 1,500 new blood samples from potential donors of hematopoietic stem cells using the molecular method for HLA loci A, B and DRB1.

Out of the total of 40,064 potential donors, currently 37,271 have undergone HLA tissue typing. A total of 2,793 blood samples remain to be tissue typed.

We are grateful to the Government of the Republic of Croatia which has included the cost of tissue typing in its budget, thereby enabling us to get closer to our goal, which is to tissue type all of the collected blood samples so that the Croatian Registry is operational and accessible to search for non-related bone marrow and stem cell donors.
