177 citizens join the Registry at the action in Kozari Bok

At this year’s first action, held on February 10 in Zagreb, a total of 177 citizens joined the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors.

This action, which was organized by the Ana Rukavina Foundation with the help of Mirjana Sever, the mother of Mladen Kukolj who suffers from acute myeloid leukemia, was held to find potential bone marrow donors for Mladen, as well as all those who are suffering.

By donating blood the citizens of Zagreb become part of the mission promoted by the Ana Rukavina Foundation which constantly expands the Registry and continues to save those who are suffering around the world. The motto of each of the 236 public actions to join the Registry that have been held throughout Croatia until now is “the cure is in us”. With this motto the Foundation would like to remind citizens that each of us carries the “cure” with which we can offer the hope of saving the lives of those suffering from acute and chronic forms of leukemia, as well as patients with severely damaged bone marrow.

We are sincerely grateful to all the dear people who came and joined the Registry yesterday and thus offered hope to treat all those suffering, including, of course, Mladen Kukolj, who is also in need of a bone marrow transplant.

We would also like to thank Mladen’s mother, Mirjana Sever, at whose initiative we organized this action, as well as all of Mladen’s friends who came out in great numbers to support the action. We are also grateful to Dr. Alen Ostojić of the Department of Hematology at the Clinical University Center Zagreb for being available to all the potential donors who had any kind of doubts or questions regarding joining the Registry.
