Dear friends, we held an action today, June 9th, to join the Registry of voluntary donors of hematopoietic stem cells at the Police Academy in Zagreb. A total of 67 potential donors joined the Registry.
We were invited to organize this action by Mr. Dušan Miljuš, and prior to the action a lecture was held at which the director of the Foundation, Mrs. Marija Rukavina, was given the chance to meet all of the young future police men and women and invite them to join us and thereby help those who are suffering.
Mrs. Mirjana Ciboci also spoke about her experiences as a donor of hematopoietic stem cells. Her stem cells were given to a patient in the Czech Republic. Mrs. Ankica Begić shared with the attendees her unusual and inspirational story about getting her chance at treatment thanks to an American Indian from the Comanche tribe.
In order for the potential donors to better understand the basics of joining the Registry and the procedure for donating, a short presentation was given by Dr. Mirta Mikulić, PhD, the head of the Registry.
We are grateful to the future young forces of the Croatian police who by adding their names to the Registry joined more than 49,000 other people who have already joined the Registry so that they can help those who need it the most.
We would also like to thank Mr. Želimir Radmilović, the head of the Police Academy, Mr. Nikša Jelovčić, the head of the department for developing police training and publishing, as well as Mr. Dušan Miljuš who invited us and was our host at the 283rd action in a row to join the Registry.
