500 new HLA typing in February

Dear friends, we are pleased to inform you about the new 500 typed samples in February.
At the beginning of February this year, the Ana Rukavina Foundation donated 500 HLA typing tests to University Hospital Centre Zagreb to help that collected samples of potential donors at 4 actions to join the Croatian Bone Marrow Donor Registry organized by the Ana Rukavina Foundation, Vinkovci City Red Cross Society, Daruvar City Red Cross Society and the Clinical Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the University Hospital Centre Osijek are typed as soon as possible. 561 potential donors joined the actions to help find an unrelated donor for a seven-year-old girl Lucija Šuvaković from Vinkovci suffering from acute myeloid leukemia, but also for all other sick people looking for a matching donor.
Samples were typed at three loci: HLA-A, HLA-B, and HLA-DRB1.
Funds from the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia have been provided for the remaining samples of potential donors.
Many thanks to all of you who have entered the Croatian Bone Marrow Donor Registry Vinkovci City Red Cross Society, Daruvar City Red Cross Society, and the Clinical Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the University Hospital Centre Osijek as well as transfusion centers in Varaždin, Zagreb, Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik.
We wish little, brave Lucija and all the others who are waiting to find a matching donor as soon as possible, and a fast and successful recovery.
