Dear friends, at this year’s first action to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors which was held today, January 16th, in Sveta Nedelja, a total of 248 citizens joined the Registry.
We held the action in Sveta Nedelja with the help of the employees and the board of the company Otto Bock Adria d.o.o.. It was their wish to help three year old Niko Bratonić of Bregana who has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant for which a non-related donor needs to be found as soon as possible. They also wish to help all the other patients in need.
We are grateful to all the kind employees and the board of Otto Bock Adria d.o.o. for the initiative and the well organized action, as well as all the young people who joined us at the action in such great numbers.
We wish for young Niko and all the others who are waiting for bone marrow transplants to find non-related donors as soon as possible and have quick and successful recoveries.
All healthy people between the ages of 18 and 40 who have not yet joined the Registry can do so at the Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb (Rebro), Department of Tissue Typing (green building, basement, room 9), every working day from 8 AM to 2 PM, as well as at the transfusion centers and at the other actions organized by the Ana Rukavina Foundation.
