On Monday November 12, 2007, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ana Rukavina Foundation joined forces to organize their 7th humanitarian action to help those suffering from leukemia and lymphoma. The voluntary blood drive for HLA tissue typing was held in conjunction with the Virovitica and Podravina Police Administration.
The event took place from 10 AM to 1 PM in Virovitica at the county offices, Trg Ljudevita Patačića 1. This highly worthwhile event was a success thanks to the employees of the Virovitica and Podravina Police Administration who were joined by the members of the MoI Retirement Association of Virovitica and Podravina County and the Firemen’s Association.
The event kicked off with a press conference at 10 AM. As expected, in addition to the representatives from the Ana Rukavina Foundation and MoI of the Republic of Croatia, also present were the chief of police for Virovitica and Podravina Police Administration, Slavko Kopjar, the president of the MoI Retirement Association in Virovitica and Podravina County, Željko Škalić, the chief of the Firemen’s Association, Milan Majetić, and representatives of the county and city authorities.
Until the end of this year, similar joint actions will be held in Sisak and Moslavina and Krapina and Zagorje County Police Administrations. The events will continue to take place in all the police administrations throughout Croatia.
We would like to invite all the members of the media and the citizens of Virovitica and Podravina County to join us in this humanitarian action in order to expand the voluntary bone marrow and stem cell donor Registry in Croatia. The expansion of the Registry increases the chances of treating people suffering from leukemia. By adding your name to the Registry you become a potential bone marrow donor, and therefore the potential savior of someone’s life.
