Dear friends, in the upcoming week we can expect another two actions to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors. The first action will be held in Zagreb as part of Bundekfest on Tuesday, September 30th, from 4 PM to 6 PM. The second action will take place in Pakrac on Trg. Dr. Franje Tuđmana on Thursday, October 2nd, from 10 AM to 12 PM.
We will organize the action in Zagreb with the help of Zagreb Concert Management, which has not only helped in organizing the action but also ensured a tent at Bundekfest next Tuesday from 4 PM to 6 PM. In Pakrac we will be helped with the organization by the Palliative Care Team “LiPa” and Mrs. Ljerka Pavković. The action was prompted by the sad story published on 034portal.hr about 20 month old Dora Perčin, who is suffering from acute myelomonocytic leukemia and is in need of a stem cell transplantation for treatment. We are grateful to Mrs. Irena Jurković, our dear organizer of the action in Požega on May 12th of this year, for drawing our attention to the difficult situation in which our young Dora and her family have found themselves. We hope to see as many of you as possible in Pakrac.
All healthy people between the ages of 18 and 40 can join the Registry and by doing so can contribute to saving the lives of those who are suffering from acute and chronic forms of leukemia, as well as patients with severely damaged bone marrow. The process to join the Registry includes filling in an application form and a medical questionnaire and giving a blood sample for HLA tissue typing which is the procedure for determining the tissue compatibility antigen.
Come, join the Registry and increase the chances of curing all those patients that are suffering!
