New actions to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors will take place on Saturday January 21st and Wednesday January 25th.
At the initiative of the Youth of the Croatian Democratic Union (Mladeži HDZ-a), the 178th action to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors will take place on Saturday January 21st at the party’s headquarters at Trg Žrtava Fašizma from 10 AM to 12 PM.
The Ana Rukavina Foundation’s 179th action, organized by the University Hospital Centre Sestre Milosrdnice (Sisters of Mercy) – Clinic for Children’s Diseases, will be held on Wednesday January 25th in the hospital’s biochemistry lab (room 88) on Klaićeva Street from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Healthy people between the ages of 18 and 40 can join the Registry by filling in an application form and a medical questionnaire and giving a blood sample for HLA tissue typing (the procedure for determining the tissue compatibility antigen). The Registry currently contains the names of 33,842 potential donors and has already saved as many as thirteen lives!
