The celebration of Ana Rukavina Erceg’s birthday

On March 8th, International Women’s Day, for the third year in a row, the Women’s Forum of Kutina organized an action in order to raise money for tissue typing blood samples of potential bone marrow.

The Drakulić family from Zagreb celebrated Mrs. Đurđica Drakulić’s 75th birthday and Mr. Dragan Drakulić’s 80th birthday, as well as their 40th wedding anniversary by organizing a party and asking all of their friends to donate money to the Ana Rukavina Foundation in lieu of buying flowers and presents.

Ružica Juras from Varaždin has donated 10,000 Kuna to the Foundation from the sale of her CD “Varaždin moj dragi” (My Darling Varaždin).

After taking a winter break, the Ana Rukavina Foundation got back to work and held its 164th action to join the Registry of voluntary bone marrow and stem cell donors, and to donate blood samples for tissue typing.

Today I read an essay written by Ana Rukavina during her second year of high school, when she was 15 years old. The essay was written 14 years before her premature death!

KBC Zagreb celebrates the 1000th successful transplantation of autologous stem cells. Stem cells, that is bone marrow, are first taken from the patient and frozen. Then they are returned to the patient after the application of high doses of therapy.
