On the holidays All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, we remember our most loved who are no longer with us. The cemeteries and final resting places have become the locations for expressing our appreciation and remembering them!

Postage-paid envelopes worth 1 million kuna awarded for excellent work
In a contest run by Hrvatska Pošta (Croatian Post) named “Your Mail for Excellent Work”, the Ana Rukavina Foundation was awarded envelopes with paid postage stamps for the year 2011.
>>400 new blood samples from stem cell donors HLA tissue typed
In the period from September 17, 2010 to October 14, 2010, there were 400 new potential bone marrow and stem cell donors tissue typed for HLA A, B and DRB1 (HLA – Human leukocyte antigen) using the DNA method.

19th Večernji List Zagreb Marathon
Starting from the main square, for the 19th time, marathoners began the 42 kilometer-long race along the streets of Zagreb. Among the participants was Zagreb’s mayor, Milan Bandić, as well as ten or so marathoners who ran in the name of the Ana Rukavina Foundation.

16,916 HLA tissue typed blood samples from voluntary bone marrow and stem cell donors in Croatia have been added to the world registry – Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide.

For the sixth time, cells from the Croatian Registry of voluntary donors have found a transplant recipient, this time a patient from Croatia.

World Lymphoma Awareness Day, September 15th
Today we are marking World Lymphoma Awareness Day. There is no way to detect this disease early, therefore, the only way to discover lymphoma on time is through education and raising public awareness about lymphoma – a disease we know little about.
>>1000 new donor samples tissue typed
In the period from July 16th to August 16th 2010, 1000 new potential donor samples of bone marrow and stem cells have been tissue typed using the DNK method for HLA (HLA – Human leukocyte antigen) A, B and DRB1!
>>Number of HLA tissue typed blood samples increased by 700 new samples
700 new donor blood samples have been tissue typed. The Registry now lists 15,875 HLA tissue typed donors which are able to be searched for genetic compatibility and tissue tolerance between the donor and the patient who is awaiting bone marrow transplantation for treatment.
