World Lymphoma Awareness Day, September 15th

Today we are marking World Lymphoma Awareness Day. There is no way to detect this disease early, therefore, the only way to discover lymphoma on time is through education and raising public awareness about lymphoma – a disease we know little about.

1000 new donor samples tissue typed

In the period from July 16th to August 16th 2010, 1000 new potential donor samples of bone marrow and stem cells have been tissue typed using the DNK method for HLA (HLA – Human leukocyte antigen) A, B and DRB1!

Among the winners of the Top Scholarships, the Foundation’s volunteer, Neven Mihić, received special recognition: the “Top Scholarship Ivo Pukanić” award, bestowed by the collegium of the editorial board of Nacional in honor of the late Ivo Pukanić, who was one of authors behind the idea for the entire project.

Matching stem cell donor found in the Croatian Registry for a patient in Croatia

For the first time, the life of a patient in Croatia has been saved by way of a successful stem cell transplantation from a donor found in the Croatian Registry of voluntary bone marrow donors. Blood samples that were stored in the domestic Registry have helped Croatian patients suffering from leukemia, thereby fulfilling the mission of the Ana Rukavina Foundation.
