Radio Velika Gorica and the Ana Rukavina Foundation have organized an action to join the Registry of voluntary bone marrow and stem cell donors. The event will take place on Saturday, September 27th from 10 AM to 2 PM in front of the main shopping center in Velika Gorica.
Until now, the Ana Rukavina Foundation has held 162 events in which 32,287 potential voluntary bone marrow and stem cells donors have donated blood and have been entered in the Registry. More than 7,000 of those blood samples have already been tissue typed and there are 6,433 donors from Croatia listed in the World Registry (BMDW-Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide).
We would like to invite all citizens between the ages of 18 and 55 to participate in this humanitarian action in order to expand the Croatian Registry of voluntary bone marrow donors.
The goal of the Registry is to make it possible for those people who are suffering from leukemia and lymphoma to find voluntary donors outside of their families, which increases the chances of treating patients who are in need of bone marrow transplants.
By joining the Registry you become a potential bone marrow donor, as well as a potential savior of a life.
