On Tuesday, September 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Open University – cinema hall (small hall, Šetalište hrvatskog narodnog preporoda 13) in Krapina, the Ana Rukavina Foundation will hold an action to enroll new members to the Croatian Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
The action in Krapina will be held at the initiative of Mrs. Miljenka Macan to help Karlo, who was diagnosed with leukemia in June of this year, as well as all sick people who are waiting for their matching donor.
All healthy citizens between the ages of 18 and 40 can register in the Croatian Registry. The enrollment process includes filling out an application form and a health questionnaire and giving a blood sample for HLA typing, which determines tissue tolerance antigens. Enrollment in the Croatian Registry is the first step that must be completed to help severely ill patients with acute and chronic forms of leukemia, lymphoma, and patients with severe bone marrow damage worldwide.
