The 198th action to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors will be held on Tuesday, October 16th from 12 PM to 5 PM in the Dubrovnik Sports Hall.
The following day, on Wednesday, October 17th, we will be in Metković from 9 AM to 1 PM on the premises of the city’s branch of the Red Cross.
All healthy people between the ages of 18 and 40 can join the Registry by filling in an application form and a medical questionnaire and giving a blood sample for HLA tissue typing (the procedure for determining the tissue compatibility antigen).
We would like to invite all the citizens of Dubrovnik and Metković and the surrounding areas to join us and join the Registry to become a potential donor of hematopoietic stem cells. The actions will be attended by the Head of the Registry, Dr. Mirta Mikulić, who will be available to provide information related to joining the Registry and donating bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cells.
Every potential donor can save someone’s life because bone marrow transplantation can treat patients with acute and chronic forms of leukemia, as well as patients with severely damaged bone marrow. The message of all the actions is – the cure is in us!
