At today’s action on Korzo in Nova Gradiška, 155 citizens gathered to join the Registry of voluntary hematopoietic stem cell donors and in that way make a contribution to saving human lives.
With the action to join the Registry, which was organized by the Ana Rukavina Foundation, the citizens of Nova Gradiška donated blood for tissue typing and therefore increased the chances of saving someone’s life. The action was organized in cooperation with the Croatian Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (HULL) of Slavonski Brod, and was supported by the civil society “Brave Children” and the Croatian League Against Cancer Dr. Zorislav Slović from Nova Gradiška.
With this noble act the citizens of Nova Gradiška demonstrated outstanding civic solidarity because bone marrow transplantation can treat patients suffering from acute and chronic forms of leukemia, as well as patients with severely damaged bone marrow. By participating in this action to join the Registry every citizen may be a potential bone marrow donor because the cure for these serious diseases is in us!
We are grateful to our dear organizers, especially all the young people who joined the Registry today, and in that way increased the survival chances of those people who are suffering!
