Action to join the Croatian Registry in Jakovlje

Dear friends, on Tuesday, June 30, from 3 pm to 5 pm, the Ana Rukavina Foundation, in cooperation with the Women’s Association of Jakovlje Municipality “Dora”, will hold an action of registration in the Croatian Bone Marrow Donor Registry the library of the Women’s Association of Jakovlje Municipality “Dora” (Stubička cesta 4) in Jakovlje.
The action of registration in the Croatian Registry in Jakovlje is motivated by the need to find a matching donor for an eight-year-old boy Robert from the municipality, but also all other sick people in Croatia and around the world in search of a matching donor.
All healthy citizens from 18 to 40 years of age can register in the Croatian Registry. The enrollment process includes completing an application form and a health questionnaire and providing a blood sample for HLA typing to determine tissue tolerance antigens. Registration in the Croatian Registry is the first step that needs to be completed to help those with severe and chronic forms of leukemia and patients with severe bone marrow damage around the world.
When enrolling, and according to the instructions of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, potential donors are asked to keep a distance of 1.5 to 2 meters, to wear protective masks, to use disinfectants that will be provided at the entrance and that if they have any symptoms such as respiratory problems/infection, fever, etc. to, for the safety of all others, miss this action. All interested citizens who are not able to come to this action on the website of the Ana Rukavina Foundation can find the exact locations and working hours of eight transfusion centers in the Republic of Croatia where permanent registration in the Croatian Registry is possible.
This action will be held with the financial support of the Zagreb County, which will, through a public tender, and according to the published proposal of financial aid for 2020, allocate funds to the Ana Rukavina Foundation for the project “The cure is in us” in Zagreb County.
