17,315 HLA tissue typed blood samples from voluntary bone marrow and stem cell donors in Croatia have been added to the world registry – Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide.

In a contest run by Hrvatska Pošta (Croatian Post) named “Your Mail for Excellent Work”, the Ana Rukavina Foundation was awarded envelopes with paid postage stamps for the year 2011.

In the period from September 17, 2010 to October 14, 2010, there were 400 new potential bone marrow and stem cell donors tissue typed for HLA A, B and DRB1 (HLA – Human leukocyte antigen) using the DNA method.

Starting from the main square, for the 19th time, marathoners began the 42 kilometer-long race along the streets of Zagreb. Among the participants was Zagreb’s mayor, Milan Bandić, as well as ten or so marathoners who ran in the name of the Ana Rukavina Foundation.

For the sixth time, cells from the Croatian Registry of voluntary donors have found a transplant recipient, this time a patient from Croatia.
