For the fifth year in a row, the Ana Rukavina Foundation has organized their traditional humanitarian Christmas concert on Ban Jelačić Square, which will start at 8 PM on December 21st. The concert is to thank all the benevolent people who since the very beginning of the Foundation’s work have unselfishly helped its work and mission in order to offer the hope of life to those fighting against hematological diseases.

17,314 HLA tissue typed blood samples from voluntary bone marrow and stem cell donors in Croatia have been added to the world registry – Bone Marrow Donors Worldwide.
>>1,000 new blood samples from potential stem cell donors have been tissue typed
In the period between November 3 and December 3, 2010, there were 1,000 new blood samples from potential stem cell donors tissue typed using the DNA typing method for HLA A, B and DRB1 (HLA – Human leukocyte antigen). The total number of samples that have been HLA tissue typed is now 19,275.

As of December 1st, the charity hotline number, 060 9000, is active. All well-intentioned citizens may call this number and donate 6.15 kuna in order to contribute to the tissue typing of the blood samples that have already been collected and will be entered in the Registry of potential bone marrow donors. The humanitarian action which led to the activation of this charity hotline will culminate on December 21st with a concert on Ban Josip Jelačić Square

In a contest run by Hrvatska Pošta (Croatian Post) named “Your Mail for Excellent Work”, the Ana Rukavina Foundation was awarded envelopes with paid postage stamps for the year 2011.

In the period from September 17, 2010 to October 14, 2010, there were 400 new potential bone marrow and stem cell donors tissue typed for HLA A, B and DRB1 (HLA – Human leukocyte antigen) using the DNA method.
